Kanwar Yatra: Delhi-Dehradun Highway Shutdown Looms
Heavy vehicle restrictions on the Delhi-Dehradun Highway and Ganga Canal Road come into effect from July 11, 2025. This is in preparation for the upcoming Kanwar Yatra.
A complete traffic ban will be imposed on both routes from July 18, 2025, to facilitate the pilgrimage. One side of the highway will be exclusively dedicated to Kanwariyas.
Millions of devotees are expected to participate in this year’s yatra. Extensive arrangements are underway to ensure their safety and smooth movement.
These arrangements include the deployment of CCTV cameras for surveillance, establishment of medical camps along the route, and the provision of special buses for pilgrims.
The restrictions are expected to cause significant disruption to traffic and transportation in the region. Commuters are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and explore alternative routes to avoid delays. The successful management of this massive pilgrimage will be a key test of the state’s logistical capabilities.
