Ranaut’s Mandi Mission: From Bollywood to Broken Roads
Bollywood star turned politician, Kangana Ranaut, is finding her new role as a Member of Parliament a far cry from her previous activism. Her focus has shifted sharply to local issues, primarily concerning dilapidated infrastructure in her constituency.
The transition, she admits, has been anything but glamorous. Ranaut recently visited flood-ravaged areas in Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, after heavy rains caused widespread damage on July 9, 2025.
During her visit, she surveyed the damage and pledged support for the affected residents. However, she clarified that her ambitions don’t extend to the highest office in the land. “Prime Minister? No, thank you,” she reportedly stated.
Ranaut’s experience highlights the stark realities faced by many celebrities venturing into politics. The shift from the glitz and glamour of Bollywood to the often unglamorous work of addressing local grievances presents a significant challenge. Her commitment to Mandi’s recovery will be a key test of her political mettle and a significant indicator of the efficacy of celebrity-driven political engagement in India.
