HP University Opens PhD Doors to Affiliated Colleges

Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) has announced a significant policy shift, empowering affiliated colleges with robust infrastructure to offer PhD programmes. This move, announced on July 10, 2025, aims to broaden research opportunities across the state.

The decision follows months of dialogue addressing faculty concerns. Key issues included delays in exam evaluations, insufficient examiner allowances, and the University Development Fund.

HPU Vice-Chancellor has assured the faculty of continued concessional rates at the Faculty House, addressing another long-standing concern.

This expansion of PhD opportunities is expected to boost research output and contribute significantly to Himachal Pradesh’s academic landscape, potentially attracting more talent to the state. The resolution of faculty concerns is also seen as crucial for maintaining morale and fostering a productive academic environment.
