US Yacht’s SOS: Coast Guard to the Rescue near Indira Point

The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) displayed exemplary seamanship and swift action, rescuing a stranded US yacht and its two crew members near Indira Point on July 11, 2025. The yacht, facing turbulent waters, had sent out a distress signal.

ICG Ship Rajveer responded immediately, reaching the stricken vessel and confirming the safety of the crew – an American and a Turkish national.

The Rajveer then expertly towed the disabled yacht to the safety of Campbell Bay. The timely intervention prevented a potential maritime tragedy.

This successful rescue underscores the ICG’s unwavering commitment to ensuring maritime safety in the region, extending its assistance even to foreign nationals in distress. The incident highlights the crucial role the ICG plays in safeguarding India’s vast coastline and protecting lives at sea.
