The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has booked Tamil Nadu police personnel for murder in connection with the custodial death of Ajit Kumar, a temple guard. Kumar was arrested on June 27, 2025.

He was found dead the following day, June 28, 2025. A post-mortem examination revealed multiple injuries on his body.

This led the CBI to register a case under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, invoking charges of murder. The investigation is underway.

The incident has sparked outrage across Tamil Nadu, raising serious concerns about police brutality and custodial deaths. The case highlights the urgent need for greater accountability and stricter oversight within law enforcement agencies to prevent such tragic occurrences in the future.
