Delhi Crime Plunges: Safer Capital in 2025?

Delhi Police have announced a significant drop in overall crime rates during the first half of 2025. A remarkable 8.4% decrease was reported compared to the same period last year.

This positive trend is particularly evident in heinous crimes, which saw a substantial 13.13% decline compared to 2023. Crimes against women also showed improvement.

Rape cases witnessed a 10% decrease, while crimes under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act also fell by a similar margin.

Other property crimes like snatching, burglary, and motor vehicle theft also experienced significant reductions.

The Delhi Police attribute this success to enhanced surveillance technologies and a more strategic policing approach. Increased community engagement initiatives are also believed to have contributed.
