SC Slams MP Minister, Orders Probe into Qureshi Remarks
The Supreme Court on Monday pulled up Madhya Pradesh Minister Kunwar Vijay Shah for his controversial statements targeting Col. Sofiya Qureshi. The court questioned the minister’s motives, expressing serious concerns about the nature of his remarks.
The apex court directed the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the matter to submit its report by August 13. This deadline is crucial for the ongoing investigation.
While the court refused to entertain a plea demanding Shah’s resignation, it significantly broadened the SIT’s mandate. The SIT has been instructed to investigate past allegations against the minister as well.
The next hearing in the case is scheduled for August 18. This development puts the spotlight on the ongoing tension between political rhetoric and accountability within the state. The Supreme Court’s intervention underscores the need for responsible public discourse and impartial investigations into allegations against public figures. The outcome will have significant implications for political accountability in Madhya Pradesh and beyond.
