Haryana’s e-PMSMA Boost: Fewer Maternal Deaths, More Support for Mothers
Haryana has significantly expanded its e-PMSMA (Pregnant Mothers and Sick Mothers Assistance) program, aiming to further improve maternal health outcomes. The state government recently announced the addition of three new service days – the 9th, 10th, and 23rd of each month – to the existing schedule.
This expansion builds on the program’s success in reducing maternal mortality rates (MMR). The addition of these days is expected to improve access to crucial healthcare services for expectant and new mothers.
Furthermore, a new e-PMSMA day will now be observed on the last working day of every month, ensuring consistent support throughout the month. This strategic move aims to provide even greater convenience and accessibility to essential healthcare.
The initiative reflects the Haryana government’s commitment to strengthening its maternal healthcare infrastructure. The increased accessibility to services, particularly for women in remote areas, is expected to yield further positive results in lowering the MMR and improving overall maternal health. This proactive approach serves as a model for other states grappling with similar challenges.
