Heavy rainfall lashed Kangra district on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, triggering landslides that wreaked havoc on road connectivity. The deluge resulted in the tragic loss of two lives.
One fatality was attributed to a slip into a swollen river, while the second victim succumbed to a snakebite amidst the chaotic conditions.
The landslides also caused significant disruptions on National Highways near Kangra, leading to massive traffic jams and delays for commuters.
Authorities swung into action, clearing the affected roads. However, a one-way traffic system remains in place as a precautionary measure, given the continuing threat of further landslides.
