Ludhiana Farmers Ignite Land Pooling Protest: Tractor March Shakes Punjab
Thousands of farmers from Ludhiana district took to the streets on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, staging a massive tractor march against the Punjab government’s controversial land pooling policy.
The demonstrations, concentrated at various points including Jodhan’s Dana Mandi, saw a huge turnout. Hundreds of tractors and vehicles participated, alongside hundreds of protestors.
Key farmer organisations like the Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU) and the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) spearheaded the protests. Women farmers actively participated, lending their support to the cause.
Protesters voiced strong opposition to the policy, warning of intensified action if the government fails to withdraw it. The scale of the demonstration underscores the deep-seated discontent among farmers.
This escalating agrarian unrest poses a significant challenge to the Punjab government ahead of crucial elections and highlights the urgent need for addressing farmers’ concerns regarding land ownership and livelihoods.
