HP Govt. Cracks Down on Bus Fare Fraud, Unveils New Initiatives
The Himachal Pradesh government is taking a multi-pronged approach to address several key issues, ranging from streamlining public transport to tackling legacy cases and improving infrastructure. A significant step involves the issuance of free or concessional ID cards for bus travel by the Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC), aiming to curb misuse and ensure fair access.
To optimise resource utilisation, the government plans to utilise vacant government buildings for various administrative purposes. A nodal agency will be designated to oversee the efficient allocation and management of these spaces.
Unregistered construction vehicles will also receive attention. A one-time registration policy is being implemented to bring these vehicles under the regulatory framework, improving safety and tax compliance.
The government’s commitment to resolving legacy issues continues with Phase II of a dedicated resolution scheme commencing on September 1. This initiative aims to clear pending cases and improve administrative efficiency.
The Vidhan Sabha’s monsoon session is scheduled to begin on August 18, where these initiatives and other crucial matters will be debated and discussed. The government’s actions reflect a concerted effort to improve governance and public services in the state, impacting the lives of ordinary citizens directly.
