Tramadol Trail Leads Amritsar Police to Haridwar Drug Ring
Amritsar police have busted a major drug trafficking network with links to Haridwar, following a seemingly minor seizure of Tramadol tablets. The operation, concluded on July 31, 2025, resulted in six arrests.
A total of 74,465 Tramadol tablets were recovered, along with raw materials used in their manufacture and a significant amount of cash believed to be drug proceeds.
The investigation led police to two pharmaceutical units in Haridwar. Raids revealed the illegal diversion of medicines marked “Government Supply Only,” highlighting a serious breach of regulatory norms.
This significant bust underscores the growing challenge of illegal drug distribution networks operating across state borders. The ease with which pharmaceutical supplies are being diverted raises serious concerns about regulatory oversight and the need for stricter enforcement to curb the menace of drug abuse in India.
