Sirmaur Cracks Down on Adulterated Food: Rs 5.5 Lakh in Fines Imposed

Sirmaur Deputy Commissioner Priyanka Verma chaired a crucial meeting on July 31, 2025, addressing critical food safety concerns in the district. The meeting underscored the urgent need for stringent measures to ensure public health.

A key decision involved mandating timely licensing and registration for all food businesses operating within Sirmaur. This move aims to improve monitoring and accountability within the sector.

Regular checks are now mandatory. Monthly sampling of key food items like milk, bread, and sweets will be conducted using the district’s mobile food testing van. The van will also play a vital role in raising public awareness about food safety.

The crackdown yielded significant results. A total of 32 food operators were penalized, facing fines amounting to a substantial Rs 5.5 lakh for selling adulterated food products.

This decisive action sends a strong message to food businesses, highlighting the administration’s commitment to ensuring safe and healthy food for Sirmaur’s citizens. The ongoing efforts underscore the importance of vigilant monitoring and consumer protection in the region.
