Cross-Border Sex-Determination Racket Busted: Three Arrested, Kingpin Flees
A joint operation by Mahendragarh health authorities and Jhunjhunu police has successfully dismantled a cross-border sex-determination racket operating between Haryana and Rajasthan. Three individuals were apprehended in Jhunjhunu on Thursday, July 31, 2025, following a meticulously planned decoy operation.
The prime accused, however, managed to evade arrest, escaping with the crucial ultrasound machine used in the illegal practice. A significant amount of cash and electronic devices, believed to be proceeds from the illegal activities, were seized during the raid.
The arrested individuals are currently facing legal action under the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PC-PNDT) Act and the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Investigations are underway to apprehend the absconding mastermind and dismantle the entire network.
This successful bust highlights the persistent challenge posed by illegal sex-determination practices across state borders and underscores the need for strengthened inter-state cooperation to combat this grave social issue. The continued prevalence of such rackets underscores the urgent need for increased awareness and stricter enforcement of existing laws to protect the unborn and curb the deeply ingrained societal biases that fuel this illegal practice.
