Army VC Honours Fallen Comrades, Recalls 1989 Sri Lanka Battle

Lt. General Pushpendra Singh, the newly appointed Vice Chief of the Army, on Friday paid a poignant tribute to five soldiers who lost their lives during a 1989 operation in Sri Lanka.

The General, leading a 13-member team as a young officer, was himself wounded in an ambush that resulted in the tragic deaths of his comrades.

He met with the families of the fallen soldiers at the National War Memorial, honouring their sacrifice and remembering the bravery displayed during the operation.

This act of remembrance underscores the Army’s commitment to its fallen heroes and highlights the enduring bonds of camaraderie and sacrifice within its ranks. The gesture also serves as a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made by Indian soldiers in maintaining national security.
