Monsoon Fury: Yellow Alert for North India as Rains Lash Chandigarh, Punjab, Haryana
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert, warning of heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and lightning across Chandigarh, Haryana, and Punjab. The alert is in effect for four days in Chandigarh and Haryana, and two days in Punjab.
This comes as the region anticipates normal to above-normal rainfall during August and September. The IMD’s forecast suggests maximum temperatures will remain normal or even dip below normal.
Despite the recent rainfall, however, temperatures in Chandigarh, Mohali, and Panchkula saw a slight rise. This unexpected increase warrants close monitoring of the weather patterns.
This weather advisory is crucial for farmers in the region, especially given the importance of timely rainfall for the Kharif crop season. Authorities should also remain prepared for potential disruptions to transportation and daily life.
