Saffron Terror Case: Ex-ATS Officer Alleges Plot to Frame RSS Chief

A former Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) inspector has made explosive allegations, claiming he was ordered to arrest Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat in connection with the 2008 Malegaon blast case. The officer, who wishes to remain anonymous for fear of reprisal, alleges this order was part of a larger conspiracy to fabricate a “saffron terror” narrative.

He claims he refused to comply with the alleged order. This defiance, he asserts, subsequently resulted in a false case being filed against him, severely damaging his career and reputation.

The inspector’s statement comes in the wake of the acquittal of all accused in the Malegaon blast case on July 31, 2025. He sees this acquittal as vindication of his refusal to participate in what he believes was a politically motivated frame-up.

This revelation raises serious questions about the integrity of the investigation and the potential for political interference in sensitive terror probes. The timing, coinciding with the acquittals, adds further weight to his allegations. The demand for a thorough, independent inquiry into these serious claims is growing louder. The impact on public trust in law enforcement agencies and the political establishment is undeniable.
