Punjab’s GST Surge: Record Revenue, Strict Enforcement

Punjab witnessed a significant 32.08% jump in Goods and Services Tax (GST) collection during July 2025, reaching a robust Rs 2357.78 crore. This marks a considerable increase compared to the same period last year.

The state’s year-to-date net GST revenue further solidified this positive trend, touching Rs 9,188 crore. This robust collection reflects improved tax compliance and economic activity within the state.

Further bolstering the state’s fiscal health, Punjab recovered Rs 156.40 crore in penalties during July 2025. Simultaneously, GST refunds worth Rs 241.17 crore were sanctioned.

This impressive performance underscores the effectiveness of Punjab’s GST enforcement mechanisms. The increased revenue stream will undoubtedly contribute to crucial state development projects and social welfare initiatives, impacting the lives of ordinary Punjabis directly.
