Monsoon Rains Unleash Snake Surge in Delhi-NCR

Wildlife SOS, a leading wildlife rescue organisation, reported a significant rise in snake sightings across Delhi-NCR following the onset of the monsoon season. Nearly 90 snakes were rescued by the organisation in recent weeks.

The highest number of encounters were recorded in South and Central Delhi, with both venomous and non-venomous species reported. This surge highlights the impact of changing weather patterns on wildlife behaviour.

Wildlife SOS stressed the crucial role non-venomous snakes play in maintaining ecological balance, primarily by controlling rodent populations. The organisation urged residents to practice responsible co-existence with these creatures, avoiding panic and harm.

The increased snake activity serves as a stark reminder of the delicate balance between urban expansion and wildlife habitats. As Delhi-NCR continues to develop, finding ways to ensure safe co-existence with wildlife will be crucial for the well-being of both humans and animals. The need for responsible urban planning and community awareness programs becomes increasingly critical.
