Delhi Gets a New Secretariat: Gupta Slams Predecessors’ ‘Lavish’ Spending
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta unveiled plans for a new, integrated Delhi Secretariat on Friday, August 1, 2025. The announcement follows years of criticism regarding the dilapidated state of existing government offices.
Gupta sharply criticised the previous administration for its alleged neglect of essential infrastructure. She highlighted a disparity between the purported lavish spending on certain buildings and the poor condition of many crucial government departments’ workplaces.
The new secretariat project aims to significantly improve working conditions for government employees. This includes modernising facilities and improving overall efficiency.
The initiative is expected to bring all relevant departments under one roof, streamlining operations and enhancing public service delivery. This move is crucial for Delhi’s administrative effectiveness and will be closely watched by other states facing similar infrastructural challenges.
