Navy Veteran’s Plight: Six Years of Red Tape After Landslide Devastation
A dedicated Indian Navy Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO), has endured six years of bureaucratic inertia after a landslide tragically destroyed his home and over 60 kanals of fertile farmland. The devastating event, which occurred on March 31, 2025, rerouted a nearby rivulet, causing catastrophic soil erosion.
Despite repeated appeals to local authorities, including the former MLA, and even direct intervention with the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the NCO’s pleas for assistance have fallen on deaf ears. Promises of government aid remain unfulfilled.
The family has been left displaced and struggling to rebuild their lives, highlighting the stark contrast between the sacrifices made by our armed forces personnel and the apathy shown by the administrative machinery.
This case underscores the urgent need for greater responsiveness and accountability from government agencies in addressing the concerns of our brave servicemen and women, especially when facing such devastating natural calamities. The continued inaction raises serious questions about the efficacy of existing grievance redressal mechanisms. The nation must ensure that those who serve our country are not forgotten in their hour of need.
