High Court Orders Timber Trail Tax Booth Shift to Ease Traffic Chaos
The Himachal Pradesh High Court has directed the relocation of the Timber Trail entry tax collection point to alleviate persistent traffic congestion. The Court, in its recent order, suggested shifting the facility to Sanwara, approximately 15 kilometers away.
This strategic move aims to significantly improve traffic flow, particularly for Himachal Pradesh registered vehicles which are currently exempt from the tax but still face delays.
Sanwara was chosen due to the presence of a well-equipped National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) toll plaza with multiple lanes. This existing infrastructure is expected to seamlessly accommodate the tax collection process, minimizing disruption.
The Court’s intervention comes as a much-needed relief to commuters and tourists alike, who frequently encounter frustrating bottlenecks at the current location. The smoother traffic flow will boost tourism and economic activity in the region, especially crucial during peak seasons.
