20 Years Jail, Heavy Fine for Duo Nabbed with 72 Kg Ganja
A sessions court handed down a strong sentence on Monday, August 4, 2025, to two drug peddlers, Rammehar and Surender. Both received 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and a hefty fine of Rs 2.5 lakh each.
The duo was apprehended in 2018 during a routine police check near Atawala village. A significant quantity of contraband was seized from their vehicle.
Police discovered 72 kg of ganja-patti and 4.5 kg of poppy husk during the search. This substantial haul underscores the scale of their operation.
The stringent punishment serves as a stern warning against drug trafficking. This case highlights the ongoing battle against narcotics in the region and the need for continuous vigilance. The substantial fine also aims to deter future illegal activities and cripple the financial backbone of such operations.
