Cycle Thief Nabbed, 12 Bikes Recovered in Chandigarh
Chandigarh Police have arrested a security guard, Manoj Patel, for the theft of multiple bicycles across the city. The arrest follows a complaint lodged by Akash, whose bicycle was recently stolen.
Twelve stolen bicycles have been recovered by the police following Patel’s apprehension. Investigations revealed that Patel targeted several areas in the city.
Patel confessed to the crimes, stating that he used the proceeds from selling the stolen bicycles to fund his drug addiction. Police records indicate he has a prior criminal history.
He is currently in judicial custody. This incident highlights the growing concern of petty crimes fuelled by substance abuse in the city, demanding a multi-pronged approach involving stricter law enforcement and rehabilitation programs.
