Punjab Extends Property Tax Amnesty: Rs 21.85 Crore Collected So Far
Punjab has extended its One-Time Settlement (OTS) scheme for property tax, offering relief to defaulters. The scheme, initially slated to conclude on July 31, 2025, will now run until August 15, 2025.
The government’s decision follows a successful first phase. During July, the scheme generated Rs 21.85 crore in revenue.
Zirakpur, Kharar, and Derabassi municipalities were the top contributors to this collection. This indicates a high level of participation from these areas.
The extension is expected to boost state coffers further and provide much-needed financial relief to taxpayers facing property tax arrears. The success of the scheme highlights the effectiveness of such amnesty programs in improving municipal finances. This initiative could serve as a model for other states grappling with property tax collection challenges.
