Delhi CM Faces VHP Pressure: Hindu Concerns Take Centre Stage
The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Monday, August 4, 2025, submitted a strongly-worded memorandum to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, outlining a range of demands aimed at addressing what it termed as growing concerns within the Hindu community.
The VHP’s key demands include enhanced protection and reconstruction of temples across the city. They also pressed for the establishment of more cow shelters and a greater emphasis on respecting Hindu religious sentiments.
The organisation further sought the implementation of a Vedic-based moral education curriculum in schools and stricter measures to control what it described as illegal religious conversions.
Chief Minister Kejriwal reportedly assured the VHP delegation that their concerns would be given due consideration by the Delhi government. However, no specific timeline or commitment was publicly announced.
This development comes amidst rising communal tensions in several parts of the country and highlights the significant political influence wielded by the VHP in Delhi and beyond. The CM’s response will be closely watched, especially given the upcoming civic elections.
