Chhattisgarh: Another Security Personnel Takes Own Life, Raising Alarm Bells

A platoon commander of the Chhattisgarh Armed Force (CAF) tragically ended his life on August 3, 2025, in Kondagaon district. He reportedly shot himself with his service rifle.

Preliminary investigations point towards personal family issues as a potential motive behind the extreme act. This incident follows another suicide by a security personnel in Bijapur district earlier this year.

The alarming trend continues, with this latest death bringing the total number of security personnel suicides in the state to 177 since 2019.

This escalating crisis demands immediate attention from authorities. The mental health and well-being of those serving in challenging environments must be prioritised. Comprehensive support systems, including counselling and stress management programs, are urgently needed to prevent further tragedies and safeguard the brave men and women protecting our nation.
