Singhpura Flyover: A Boon Above, A Bane Below?
The recently inaugurated Singhpura flyover, intended to ease Delhi-bound traffic, has ironically exacerbated woes for residents living beneath. While the elevated road offers a smoother journey for commuters, the service roads below remain a treacherous maze of potholes, slush, and obstructions.
This has rendered the flyover’s benefits largely ineffective for local residents. Their daily commutes continue to be fraught with danger, negating the positive impact of the infrastructure project.
Despite the flyover, traffic snarls persist in the area, indicating a failure to address the underlying infrastructural issues. The narrow, dilapidated service roads create bottlenecks, hindering the free flow of traffic.
The situation underscores a critical flaw in urban planning: prioritising grand projects over the needs of local communities. The authorities must urgently address the deplorable condition of the service roads to ensure the flyover truly serves its intended purpose and improves the lives of all residents, not just commuters. Ignoring this issue risks undermining public trust in future infrastructure development.
