Heroin Haul: Rs 5 Crore Drug Bust Nets Notorious Punjab Smuggler
Police in have made a significant breakthrough in the fight against drug trafficking. Gurmeet Singh, alias Guggi, was apprehended near Badopal village on August 4, 2025.
The arrest yielded a substantial seizure: 1.6 kg of heroin, estimated to be worth a staggering Rs 5 crore. Guggi, a daily wage labourer with only a Class V education, has a history of criminal activity.
His record includes ten prior cases, several related to drug trafficking. Investigations reveal he was transporting the contraband from Punjab.
A case has been registered under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. This arrest underscores the ongoing battle against drug smuggling networks operating across state borders and highlights the urgent need for strengthened inter-state cooperation to curb this menace.
