Captain Chander Narain Singh’s family made a poignant gesture on August 5, 2025, marking the 60th anniversary of his death. They donated his Maha Vir Chakra (MVC) and other service medals to the Garhwal Rifles Regiment.

The ceremony, steeped in emotion and respect, was held at the Regimental Centre. The family’s decision ensures Captain Singh’s bravery will continue to inspire future generations of soldiers.

Captain Singh’s supreme sacrifice during the 1965 war earned him the MVC posthumously. His exceptional courage is now permanently etched into the annals of the Garhwal Rifles.

The medals will find a fitting home at the Regimental Centre Museum in Uttarakhand, becoming a powerful symbol of valour and patriotism for all visitors.
