Haryana Farmers Cry Foul: Fraudulent Crop Registrations Plague “Meri Fasal Mera Byora”
Farmers in Haryana are embroiled in a bitter dispute over alleged fraudulent crop registrations on the state’s “Meri Fasal Mera Byora” portal. The accusations point fingers at officials within the Revenue Department.
Bharatiya Kisan Ekta (BKE) state president, Lakhwinder Singh Aulakh, has reported a surge in complaints from distressed farmers. He alleges widespread irregularities in the registration process, impacting their rightful compensation.
Despite numerous complaints, local police have reportedly been reluctant to register First Information Reports (FIRs), leaving farmers with little recourse. This inaction has further fueled farmers’ anger and frustration.
The Haryana Agriculture Department has acknowledged some instances of data entry errors. They have urged affected farmers to lodge their complaints directly through the portal’s grievance redressal mechanism.
However, the lack of swift police action and the scale of the alleged fraud raise serious concerns about the integrity of the “Meri Fasal Mera Byora” scheme. This incident highlights the vulnerability of farmers to bureaucratic malfeasance and underscores the urgent need for robust oversight and accountability to ensure fair compensation for their hard work. The upcoming Kharif season further amplifies the need for immediate and decisive action to prevent similar incidents.
