Military Heroes Enter School Textbooks: A Salute to Courage
The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has incorporated new chapters on three iconic military figures into the school curriculum. These chapters celebrate the bravery and supreme sacrifice of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, Brigadier Mohammad Usman, and Major Somnath Sharma.
The move, a joint effort by the Ministries of Defence and Education, aims to enrich students’ understanding of India’s rich military history. The inclusion of these legendary figures intends to inspire future generations.
These chapters will highlight the exemplary leadership, courage, and patriotism demonstrated by these heroes during critical moments in India’s history. Their stories will serve as powerful examples of resilience and national service.
The initiative is expected to foster a deeper appreciation for the sacrifices made by our armed forces and instill valuable civic virtues in young minds. This move comes at a time when national pride and a strong sense of identity are increasingly important for the nation’s youth.
