The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) issued a statement Thursday, August 7, 2025, expressing deep sorrow over the tragic helicopter crash in Ghana on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.

The crash resulted in the unfortunate deaths of several individuals, including prominent figures.

Among the victims were Ghana’s Defence Minister, Dr Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, and the Environment Minister, Alhaji Dr Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed.

India conveyed its heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Ghana during this difficult time.

The incident underscores the inherent risks associated with air travel and highlights the importance of robust safety protocols in aviation. This loss impacts Ghana’s political landscape and ongoing development initiatives, particularly in crucial sectors like defence and environmental protection.
