Himachal Pradesh’s ambitious HIM CARE scheme, designed to provide cashless healthcare access, has been stalled for nine months. Launched with much fanfare, the scheme offering treatment in private hospitals was abruptly discontinued on March 31, 2025, due to alleged misuse.
The state government had pledged swift reforms and a relaunch. However, despite these assurances, no concrete steps have been taken to revive the crucial initiative.

A committee was formed to review the scheme and suggest improvements. Yet, its report remains pending, further compounding the woes of those affected.
