Uttarakhand Floods: 700 Rescued, Over 100 Still Missing
A massive rescue operation is underway in Uttarakhand following devastating flash floods and landslides that struck the state on August 8, 2025. Over 700 people have been successfully rescued.
The multi-agency effort involves the Indian Air Force, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Border Roads Organisation (BRO), and local administration. Both air and ground operations are in full swing.
However, the grim reality remains: over 100 civilians and eight soldiers are still missing. Search and rescue teams are working tirelessly to locate them.
Road clearance efforts are ongoing to ensure access to affected areas for relief materials and medical assistance. The focus is now on providing immediate medical aid to the rescued and finding the missing.
This tragedy underscores the urgent need for improved infrastructure and disaster preparedness in Uttarakhand’s vulnerable mountainous regions. The state government must learn from this devastating event to better protect its citizens in the future.
