Haryana Farmers’ Fury: Rs 60,000 Demand, CM’s Residence Siege Threatened
Haryana witnessed a fiery farmers’ protest on August 8, 2025, with cultivators demanding a hefty Rs 60,000 per acre compensation for crop losses attributed to a devastating virus. The widespread damage has left farmers reeling, pushing them to the brink.
Their demands extended beyond compensation, encompassing immediate paddy procurement to prevent further losses. Inefficient fertilizer distribution further fuelled their anger, adding to their existing woes.
Adding to the pressure, farmers also insisted on a Minimum Support Price (MSP) guarantee for their produce, a long-standing demand across the agrarian community. This seeks to ensure fair prices and protect their livelihoods.
With their patience wearing thin, farmers issued a stark warning: if their demands remain unmet, they will lay siege to the Chief Minister’s residence. This escalation signals a deepening crisis in the state’s agricultural sector.
The escalating tensions highlight the urgent need for the Haryana government to address the farmers’ concerns effectively. Failure to do so could lead to widespread unrest and severely impact the state’s agricultural output and the livelihoods of countless farming families.
