Punjab on High Alert: Crackdown Ahead of Independence Day
Punjab Police launched a massive statewide security operation in the run-up to Independence Day on August 15. The initiative involved a multi-pronged strategy to ensure a peaceful and secure celebration.
Flag marches were conducted across the state to reassure citizens and visibly demonstrate the police presence. Simultaneously, cordon and search operations were carried out to detect and prevent any potential threats.
A significant component of the operation focused on tackling the drug menace. Anti-drug raids resulted in the arrest of 73 drug smugglers. Furthermore, 61 individuals were persuaded to enter de-addiction programs.
The comprehensive security measures underscore the Punjab Police’s commitment to maintaining law and order. This proactive approach is crucial given the state’s history of security concerns and the ongoing battle against drug abuse.
