Punjab Floods: Ajnala, Ramdass Belt Submerged After Dhussi Bandh Breach

Torrential rainfall has unleashed widespread flooding across Punjab, with the Ajnala and Ramdass belts bearing the brunt of the deluge. The situation has been drastically worsened by a breach in the Dhussi Bandh, leading to severe inundation.

Several villages, including Ghonewal and Machhiwala, remain critically affected, with homes and agricultural lands submerged under several feet of water. Rescue operations are underway, with the Deputy Commissioner and local police leading the efforts.

The administration is working tirelessly to evacuate residents from affected areas and provide essential relief. However, with more rain predicted, the situation is expected to deteriorate further.

The scale of the devastation highlights the urgent need for improved flood management infrastructure in the region. The long-term impact on agriculture and the livelihoods of affected farmers remains a significant concern. This necessitates a comprehensive review of existing flood control measures and proactive planning to mitigate future disasters.
