Sharma Slams BJP: 125 Crore “Thank You” Masks MC’s Financial Crisis
Chander Mukhi Sharma, a prominent councillor, has sharply criticised a special Municipal Corporation (MC) meeting convened to express gratitude to the Union Home Minister for the allocation of Rs 125 crore. Sharma alleges this sum is merely re-appropriated funding, not a new grant.
He contends that the MC remains mired in a severe financial crisis, despite the purported allocation. The funds, he argues, were already earmarked for the corporation.
Sharma directly blamed the ruling BJP for the ongoing financial woes, accusing the party of failing to secure sustainable, long-term financial assistance for the MC.
This incident highlights the ongoing struggle faced by many Indian municipalities in securing adequate funding for essential services. The debate over the nature of the Rs 125 crore allocation raises serious questions about transparency and accountability in public spending, underscoring the need for more robust financial mechanisms to support local governance.
