Chandigarh Five Get Life for Child’s Murder
Five Chandigarh residents were handed life sentences on September 12, 2025, for the brutal murder of four-year-old Amit Kumar. The incident, dating back four years, stemmed from a petty dispute over a damaged scooter.
Bharat, Gurdev, Anil Kumar, Pardeep Kumar, and Rahul were all found guilty by the court. The prosecution successfully argued that the accused fatally stabbed the young child in a fit of rage.
Each convict received a life imprisonment term and was also fined Rs 5,000. The judgement sends a strong message about the consequences of violent crime, particularly against vulnerable children.
This case highlights the urgent need for stronger community initiatives aimed at conflict resolution and anger management, especially in light of escalating petty disputes turning violent. The tragic loss of young Amit Kumar underscores the devastating impact of unchecked aggression.
