Battle lines drawn, 21 in fray for DU Students’ Union elections

Delhi University Student Union: A Tight Race for Power

Twenty-one candidates remain in the fray for the Delhi University Student Union (DUSU) elections, following the withdrawal deadline. The contests promise to be fiercely fought across all key positions.

Nine candidates are vying for the President’s post, a clear indication of the high stakes involved. The Vice-President’s race features three contenders, while four are competing for the Secretary’s position. Five candidates will battle it out for the Joint Secretary’s post.

The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), and the All India Students’ Association-Students’ Federation of India (AISA-SFI) alliance are the main political forces expected to dominate the election.

Polling is scheduled for September 18, 2025, with the counting of votes to take place the following day, September 19, 2025. The outcome will significantly impact student life on campus and potentially influence broader political narratives. The results will be keenly watched by political observers and students alike.
